HEALTH CARE MINISTRY

Holy Family Parish is the primary provider of pastoral outreach through visitation, prayer and sacrament.  Our Eucharistic Ministers and Pastoral Visitors belong to an ever growing circle of dedicated volunteers who generously give of their time, care, love, compassion and listening presence. They are the visible signs of Jesus' healing presence bringing the care of the our parish to people who are often frightened, confused, lonely, depressed and isolated.

Quality pastoral care supports life, brings comfort, hope and connectedness to people in need. It is an integral part of Holy Family Parish. Primarily it focuses on the spiritual needs of those who are confined to home especially the elderly, the terminally ill and their families, nursing home and senior housing residents, patients at Addison Gilbert Hospital and people facing crisis.

Our homebound actively participate in the life of the parish by their prayers, a telephone ministry providing support, reassurance and connectedness, while others have knitted prayer/comfort shawls.

This ministry is coordinated by Anna Matturro, a member of the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and former Hospice Chaplain.

Anna’s role is to identify and assess needs, train, support and supervise volunteers, serve as a liaison with the Co-Pastors, schedule Masses and Communion Services at various facilities, assist families with funeral planning, wakes and internments when appropriate, offer bereavement follow-up and referrals to ongoing community support groups.
